Former Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has launched a new political group known as Rozwój Plus (Development Plus) after parting ways with the Law and Justice (PiS) party. The newly established parliamentary group, consisting of 40 MPs and one senator, has vowed to uphold its conservative principles. In his remarks after the group’s official registration in parliament, Łukasz Schreiber emphasized their commitment to their voters and their values, stating they would refrain from personal attacks on PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński.
Morawiecki outlined the group’s mission, indicating that Rozwój Plus would act as a political platform while continuing the policy and research initiatives previously conducted by the Rozwój Plus association. The former Prime Minister has made it clear that the group’s focus will be on key issues affecting Poland, such as healthcare, fuel prices, and government accountability, rather than engaging in internal political disputes.
The split from PiS was characterized by Kaczyński as both anticipated and unfortunate, particularly given the current challenges facing Poland. Despite the separation, Rozwój Plus has expressed a desire to maintain a respectful discourse and has promised not to compromise on its foundational values. This approach signifies a departure from the more contentious tactics often seen in political separations.
Members of Rozwój Plus are now concentrating on addressing pressing national concerns. By prioritizing significant issues over internal party conflicts, the group aims to present itself as a constructive and solution-oriented force within the Polish political landscape. This strategic focus on practical matters is intended to resonate with the electorate and strengthen their support base.
