Zelensky Alerts of Imminent Russian Strikes on Ukraine’s Infrastructure

by admin477351

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has sounded the alarm over potential large-scale Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy and logistics infrastructure, coinciding with the timing of the US midterm elections. In a speech on November 2, Zelensky revealed that Ukrainian intelligence had identified preparations for new Russian strikes, raising concerns about the country’s defense capabilities as winter approaches.

One of Zelensky’s primary concerns is Ukraine’s insufficient air defense systems, including the shortage of Patriot missiles. He emphasized the need for the United States and its allies to intensify pressure on Moscow by targeting its oil and gas revenues. The call for enhanced support comes amid heightened fears stemming from recent Russian military actions.

The warning follows a devastating attack on a school in Komyshuvakha, Zaporizhzhia region, which was being utilized for humanitarian aid distribution and civilian shelter. The assault resulted in the deaths of at least 26 people, including emergency workers and police officers, as rescue operations continued in the aftermath of the strike.

This incident occurred shortly after a six-day humanitarian ceasefire in the Kherson region concluded on November 1. The truce allowed for the evacuation of civilians from the Russian-occupied city of Oleshky. However, attempts to extend the ceasefire were unsuccessful, leading to renewed hostilities.

Despite the ongoing conflict, diplomatic efforts are still underway. Ukrainian, Russian, and US officials are scheduled to engage in another round of US-mediated peace talks in Abu Dhabi on November 10–11. These discussions are expected to address issues of de-escalation, humanitarian aid, and post-war security arrangements.

Zelensky also accused Russia of escalating attacks on Ukraine’s electricity distribution networks, complicating repair efforts. He noted that energy workers are tirelessly working to restore supplies and highlighted the protection of critical infrastructure as a priority throughout the winter months.
