Amid rising political tensions, Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski finds himself under scrutiny following the resignations of Deputy Mayors Renata Kaznowska and Aldona Machnowska-Góra. These departures come in the wake of allegations of irregularities associated with the South Warsaw Hospital, casting a shadow over the city’s leadership.
The situation has further escalated with allegations that a whistleblower, who reportedly uncovered misconduct at Warsaw’s Municipal Roads Authority, was terminated without support from city officials. This development has sparked a debate on the integrity and accountability within the municipal administration.
In response to the unfolding events, Mariusz Błaszczak, the parliamentary leader of the Law and Justice party (PiS), has placed responsibility squarely on Mayor Trzaskowski’s shoulders. He critiqued the mayor’s leadership, arguing that if deputy mayors are stepping down due to these issues, then Trzaskowski must also be held accountable for the administration’s overall conduct.
Błaszczak has not minced words in his call for Trzaskowski’s resignation, accusing him of mismanagement. According to Błaszczak, the series of controversies that have recently engulfed the Polish capital’s administration points to a failure at the top, suggesting that the mayor should accept responsibility for the mishandling of these situations.
