Zelenskyy Urges Direct Negotiations with Putin for Ukraine War Resolution

by admin477351

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has extended an invitation for direct negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, suggesting a meeting in a neutral location as part of efforts to resolve the ongoing conflict. In a public letter to Putin, Zelenskyy proposed that talks be held in countries such as Switzerland, Turkey, or an Arab nation, emphasizing that crucial decisions about the war can only be made through direct dialogue between the two leaders. He urged for a specific date to be set for this proposed meeting.

As part of his negotiation framework, Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is willing to initiate a full ceasefire during the talks. He also put forward the idea of an all-for-all prisoner exchange as a gesture to build trust. Additionally, he called for the return of Ukrainian civilians and children who have been taken from areas impacted by the conflict. This proposal arrives amidst ongoing military actions, with Russia increasing its aerial attacks on Ukraine and Ukraine launching long-range drone strikes deep into Russian territory.

The suggestion of a meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin has received a welcoming response from U.S. President Donald Trump, who expressed that such negotiations would necessitate compromises from both parties to reach a resolution. Meanwhile, the Kremlin confirmed that Putin has been informed of Zelenskyy’s proposal, although Russian officials noted that the offer has not yet been thoroughly examined.
