Polish President Karol Nawrocki emphasized the importance of establishing a permanent U.S. military presence in Poland during discussions with U.S. President Donald Trump. Speaking from New York at the 81st United Nations General Assembly, Nawrocki highlighted ongoing security cooperation and U.S. defense equipment deliveries as focal points of the bilateral dialogue.
Nawrocki stated that Trump has shown support for an enhanced long-term U.S. military presence in the region. To advance this initiative, Nawrocki called for further discussions between Polish Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and U.S. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth. This effort is part of Poland’s broader strategy to deepen its security partnership with the United States and bolster its standing within NATO.
The Polish president also underscored efforts to boost military and economic collaboration with the U.S., mentioning ongoing talks with American defense companies to expedite contracts and investment projects in Poland. These discussions aim to strengthen ties and facilitate economic growth through increased cooperation.
In addition, Nawrocki addressed Poland’s aspirations for a permanent role in the G20, noting that Warsaw is working to build international support for its bid, including engaging with the African Union. This ambition aligns with Poland’s goal to play a more significant role on the global stage.
During his address at the U.N. General Assembly, Nawrocki planned to focus on Poland’s security concerns, regional and global crises, demographic challenges, and the persecution of Christians, highlighting the nation’s priorities in both regional and international contexts.
