Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukraine anticipates receiving further financial assistance from the European Union in the coming days, as the country seeks to bolster its budget and defense capabilities. This follows a recent €3.3 billion EU allocation for weapons, which was delivered last week.
In a meeting with Odile Renaud-Basso, the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Zelensky discussed various forms of financial support, including aid for Ukraine’s energy sector and the protection of vital infrastructure. The conversations also addressed supporting Ukrainian exporters and domestic producers, highlighting the importance of assistance for farmers.
Zelensky detailed Ukraine’s finalized long-range defense strategies for October, which include ongoing operations and plans for additional F-16 aircraft supplies by the year’s end. Furthermore, he announced the selection of initial prototypes for an interceptor system aimed at countering fast-moving, jet-powered Shahed drones. The production of this system, along with its funding and timelines, is currently being planned.
