A recent poll indicates that Poland’s Civic Coalition (KO), led by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, remains the largest political group but might encounter difficulties forming a majority if elections were held today. The poll shows KO with 27.3% support, a slight decline from the 28.7% recorded in the previous survey. Meanwhile, support for the Law and Justice (PiS) party increased by 2.8 percentage points, reaching 20.6%, while the Confederation party’s support rose to 14.1%.
Other political groups also featured in the poll results. The Confederation of the Polish Crown garnered 8.4% support, while the Left secured 7.1%, and Development Plus stood at 6.5%. In contrast, Poland 2050 and the Polish People’s Party (PSL), both associated with the current governing coalition, fell below the required threshold to secure electoral representation.
The projected seat allocation based on these results suggests that a coalition of KO and the Left would hold approximately 198 seats. This figure falls 33 seats short of the 231 needed to secure a majority. On the other hand, a potential coalition of PiS, Confederation, and Development Plus would also not reach a majority, with an estimated 224 seats. However, if the Confederation of the Polish Crown were included, the right-wing bloc could potentially increase its tally to around 262 seats.
It’s important to note that this survey was conducted before recent controversies involving Polish Olympic Committee president Radosław Piesiewicz and an expensive Patek Philippe watch. Thus, any political ramifications stemming from that issue are not considered in these poll results.
