British Prime Minister Andy Burnham has reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s steadfast support for Ukraine during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at Downing Street. Despite growing international uncertainty over the ongoing conflict, Burnham assured Zelensky that the UK’s backing would remain consistent.

In light of intensified Russian attacks, Burnham announced that the UK would expedite the delivery of air defense missiles to Ukraine. This includes lightweight multi-role missiles, which have been effective against Russian jet-powered drones. Zelensky expressed his gratitude for the UK’s unwavering support, highlighting the British people as among Ukraine’s strongest allies.

The meeting took place against a backdrop of strained relations between Ukraine and the United States, following recent shifts in Washington’s approach to Russia and concerns over intelligence sharing. Burnham emphasized that Britain would continue to apply pressure on Moscow while exploring additional avenues to support Kyiv.

Burnham also conveyed his commitment to pursuing diplomatic solutions to the conflict, although he stressed that ongoing Russian attacks on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure remain a significant concern. The discussions highlighted the UK’s role as a key partner in Ukraine’s efforts to counter Russian aggression.
